rookIn partnership with the Pima County Public Library, 9 Queens hosts a series of free, all ages chess tournaments at libraries throughout Pima County.

Library tournaments are unrated, FREE and open to everyone!

We encourage you to participate whether you are just a beginner or could give Irina Krush a run for her money.  This is a great way to practice your skills.

You love the game and have been playing chess for a while but are not at the Alexandra Kosteniuk level yet? Sign in our newly added Middle section.

Highly experienced chess players we encourage you to come and enjoy the game and compete against your peers in the Open section.

Player sign in will happen from 9:15-9:45. Players must be signed in by 9:45, if not the player will receive a 1/2 point bye and paired in on the second round.

The tournament will begin promptly at 10.

There will be three rounds.

There will be three sections: Rookie, Middle and Open

There will be a short break for lunch.  9 Queens will provide one slice of pizza and a bottle of water for each player for lunch. Identifying wristbands will be provided after round one.  Spectators and other guests will need to provide their own lunches.
