DESCRIPTION:Celebrate National Chess Day with 9 Queens and Bookmans. Join us on October 13\, 2012 from 12-2 for free chess lessons\, pick up games and a simultaneous exhibition provided by Women's International Master Amanda Mateer.     Other events free activities include: face-painting\, chess arts and crafts\, and cupcakes for participants.    President Gerald Ford originally declared October 9\, 1976 National Chess Day to “enhance awareness and encourage students and adults to engage in a game known to enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills.” This marks the fourth year\, 9 Queens and Bookmans have partnered to promote chess literacy within the Tucson area.
