9 Queens is dedicated to empowering individuals and communities through chess by making the game fun, exciting, and accessible.
To me, chess is a fun sport that anyone can play. It is not like other sports because it tests your mind, not your physical ability; so,an eight year-old could play a 40 year-old. It is one of few games that luck isn’t involved in. It is based completely on skill. It is important to me because it teaches people to think ahead. Join us on August 18, 2012 for a free, all ages, family chess tournament at the Murphy Wilmot Library. Registration will be from 10- 10:30 am. There will be 3 rounds held in this unrated tournament. Lunch will be provided for the participants. Prizes will be awarded to the top individuals and teams in each section.
